Data Residency
Every debate, transcript, and delegate record stays within EU jurisdiction. Pocket Debate's infrastructure runs entirely in AWS regions in Paris (eu-west-3) and Frankfurt (eu-central-1), so student data never leaves the European Union. Voice audio captured during a live round is processed transiently for real-time adjudication and transcription, then discarded rather than retained on any server. This EU-resident architecture was built from day one to support GDPR, COPPA, and FERPA compliance, giving institutions, data protection officers, and parents a direct answer to the where's-my-data question before a single delegate account is created. That is a deliberate design decision, not an afterthought bolted on for a single pilot. Every chamber a school or university convenes, regardless of format or where its delegates dial in from, inherits the same residency guarantee by default.
